Comment by Jeff Miller on December 23, 2012 at 3:58pm: Thanks Mike - I find that this design is WAY louder, has more bass respinse and overall resonance than the Meinl cajon I bought, which has the traditional 6" hole in the back. Plus, for performance, more sound goes out toward the room. Here's a video I completed recently, featuring this cajon:

I'm a percussionist in my spare time and have tossed around some ideas for building a cajon. Curious your thoughts/feedback/insight.
