yes. There are runners on the sides and rear and the shelves slide over the runners. The shelves are hollow. They are constructed with 3/4 inch plywood Top and bottom and a 3/4 inch solid wood front. To add more structural support to the shelf, there are 1 inch strips of solid wood pine that get glued to the top and bottom (inside the shelf). These strips are in deep enough inside the shelf so as not to interfere with the runners.

yes the measurements are in inches. The top part of the page is the top view (as is indicated on the right). Looking at the front view, You have a 5.5 inch soffit, followed by 4 shelves. Then You have two drawers. Below the drawers is a radiator cover made of aluminum perforated sheets and spray-painted black.
