Thanks, Darren.  It was very easy to build.  The most work was sanding and finishing.  Let me know if you need any tips designing either option.  I've got pictures on my page of a large built-in I did in the same house too.  And for this project, the two file cabinets you can see in the background here are going to get a credenza-style top, just like the rough-cut heart pine that the desk is made of.  The panel is already joined up and getting worked on in my shop right now.  It will go all the way over to the wall on the right and get "built-in" with a backsplash and other moulding.

I really like this a lot. I still haven't decided whether to build a standalone desk or a semi-builtin, but this makes me lean more towards the former.
