I mixed some clean sawdust and exterior glue (a trick I saw somewhere on DIY). I thought I would try to plug the holes and sand them down instead of using more plugs. This was a good part of the project for my son.

Sorry to take so long on this. I do have some rough plans. A roofing project and a funeral had sidetracked the progress on this. I am very happy to be back in the workshop. I am going to build another one going by the plans just to make sure I feel good about passing them along. This is one sturdy swing... thanks to Kreg Jig. I am sure with the right finish it would be one to pass on.

Yes. Good eye! That is a 2x4 for the arm rest and 1x4s for both arm support and seat back. The 2x4 arm is notched out for the seat back 1x4 and not tapered.
I originally had 1x4's for the arm rests but it made it look to delicate. I have additional angled supports on the arm supports but after this picture was taken. It really didn't need the extra support. I was surprised how strong the two pocket holes made the support/arm joint. But I added the angled support more for looks and to hide the chain that will run down the front support. I will try to get updated pics and may even find time to post a usable plan. LOL

On the arms it appears that you have 1by material on the 2 by tapered to the rear, is that right?

A note here about the strength of the Kreg pocket hole joinery. I ran out of 1x4's so I used an extra 1x2 for the front seat slat. The slats in my original plan were supposed to run all the way from front to back (which explains the space you see on the seat from the back view.
Anyway, I thought I would test the strength of the joint at front. (That slat is attached from the bottom front support on the inside.) I stood on it, jumped on it, lifted it and anything else I could do to see if it would come loose. It didn't budge! So I proceeded to router it (see it rounded over) to make it nice and comfy for the back of the leg and continued on with the project. Wow!

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
