No the darker wood is stained with some left over stain from a previous project it's American Oak, & the lighter wood is just natural. Just the varish right on it. That's also the first coat. Will put a second coat when my time permits. It's pine plywood A/C, & pine 2X6's. I wanted to use Douglas Fir but that's hard to come by around here. Thanks

Very nice. It should work well for your wife. What are you using for finish? A combination of shallac, danish oil and help stain due to multiple wood species and I wanted an "older" look
