The Steamer Trunk

I was inspired to build the steamer trunk after watching Norm Abram build this project on the "New Yankee Workshop", a DIY show on PBS television. I ordered all the hardware from the same supplier as Norm. The "New Yankee Workshop" website features some of the projects that I have built, including this one.

Dimensions: 37-1/4"L x 18"W x 22-1/4"H

Hi Jens, I bought the plans from Norm Abram's website for about $9, They are dimensional, but very good. I built the trunk from solid hardwood maple flooring that was left over from commercial hardwood flooring installations. So the material cost me nothing. I planed the wood down on the back and cut-off the tongue and groove and biscuited it together. The stained side with aluminum oxide coating is on the inside of the trunk and quite attractive. Quite a lot of work! The original hardware I purchased from Horton Brasses and paid around $140 dollars. Hope this helps!
