Overengineered Simple Stool

What began as a project to work on with my daughter, aged 2, ended up as a completely different project that she still insisted on helping with. As a result, the actual assembly was rushed and shoddier than planned. Nevertheless, it's incredibly solid, and eminently usable.

The legs & top are the "good pine" (ha ha) from Home Depot, while the stretchers are not positively identified red hardwood castoffs from the local hardwood store.

Finish TBD, very possibly polycrylic over linseed oil.

Yeah, she does.

If I'd known she'd want to use it for EVERYTHING, I'd have made it about 2 inches taller - it's just too short for her to brush her teeth, but that certainly doesn't stop her from trying!

It’s a great pay-off still.  She’s happy about it!  You can tell by her smile ...
