Hi i'm not sure what you mean about attaching the outside frames?  The bottom bench part was made as one piece and the top part all as one piece.  They were then joined together with pocket holes on the inside of the sides and all along the back (with glue as well).  Does that help?

Andy, I would love to have your Google Sketchup plans.  I am having trouble sorting out the base of this unit and what is attached to what. Are the outside frames all the same size and then you attached the bottom base to the outside of the frames.  What are the insides of the open shelves attached to?  Thank you for any guidance.  I am looking to build something similar this week.

Hi Anthony.  This was made from Select pine boards from home depot (1 x 2, 1 x 3, 1 x 4 and 1 x 6 (for two joined together for sides).  The back, base and bottom side inserts are 3/4 inch Purebond ply from Home Depot. The side trim was 1/4 inch poplar trim.

This is an awesome project.  What type of wood did you use?  I only ask this because I am very new to working with wood.

Hi Robert.  I don't have detailed plans.  I built it from a Google Sketchup plan I did and my "board planner".  I have a spreadsheet where I put in all the lenghts required and it helps work out the minimum boards you need to produce it.  Happy to send you the info if you add me and send me your email in a message.  Regards.

Hi Johnny thanks for the comments, it was just my work lights in the bottom section it isn't a piece with lights. The person I am making it for is adding hooks for back packs and other stuff to hang from. I'll post more pics once painted. Thanks.

Nice job Andy. Is that bottom section lighted?  You could add some clothes hooks at the top and hang coats and dog leashes on it!

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
