SuperTal....on this piece I used a latex glaze and tinted to the clients request.   I used latex cause the beadboard (unlike the reclaimed wood) was finished with a water borne lacquer tint (Target Coatings) glazed and then top coated with target coatings poly, which is also water borne.  I usually use Waterlox to seal and topcoat which is a tung oil, so the glaze I used in the other built-ins posted on this site, was an acrylic based glaze (Benjamin Moore).  I like using Waterlox and acrylic glaze the most...it seems to work better for me.  With Waterlox I can wipe it on or foam brush it on....when I use the Target Coatings I spray.

Yes, please share your finishing techniques. I am almost finished with a big bedroom build and want to use the glazing effect. The paint I have chosen is nearly the same color as what you used.

What products did you use for the Glazing?  I'm new to woodworking and am interested in the glazing process.  Have any useful links on how to glaze?

Thanks Josh....what I did was as follows....sanded to get rid of any possible splinters...but not too aggressive, you want to leave the character of the wood.  One coat of original waterlox to seal all sides, I use a foam brush.  After the Waterlox dried I brushed on a black solur-lux stain.  This will get into the crevices.  I then did a good sanding to get the black off and just leave in the crevices.  Another coat of Waterlox.  Then I used solur-lox American Walnut to get the brown look.  Then 4-5 coats of original Waterlox with a foam brush....you shouldn't have to sand between coats.  Hope this helps.

Loving the reclaimed wood as well! Hoping to achieve the same look on my first project with reclaimed pine. Was there a particular stain that you chose before the Waterlox?

Thanks Joan...the reclaimed wood looks very nice and is my favorite part.  There was a lot of detail sanding to make sure no one would get splinters.  It is topped off with 5 coats of Original Waterlox, so it is very well sealed yet has all the saw marks, knots and nail holes.
