Jim,

The mill I use I built fro scratch.  You can purchase a mill from Ganberg that will allow you to bolt you existing chainsaw to their mill.  Here is their web address:  http://granberg.com/

My mill is built from a 134cc industrial 2-stroke 2-cycle motor.  The only saw maker that comes close is Stihl and that's only if you buy their 090 with a big bore kit.  I mill large hardwood trees that requires as much HP as one can get.  If you plan to mill I would suggest you start checking places like Creg's List or your local lawn mower shops for a good used saw.  Once you get into the 90cc class saws they get expensive fast.  You can use smaller saws and Alaskan Mills if you plan to mill logs in the 12" across range.  Look through Ganberg's web site, they have video clips on milling, and choosing the right size saw/mill required for logs you plan to mill.  It is very fun and will allow you to make lumber from trees destined for the firewood pile or land fills.  Let me know if you need additional info. At this web site you can look through the milling threads.  You will see my mills and wood I have milled.  Look for '820wards'  http://www.arboristsite.com/

Hi Jerry, I would like to know how your chainsaw holder and guide are made or if you purchased them.

Any info on milling would be appreciated. Thank You

Thanks, my friend's wife took the pictures while I was milling. The big Alaskan style mill is my log dragster. It will mill an 8" log in less than two minutes. It's really fun to use.

I currently just finished making seven small jewelry boxes with wood I milled in the past. When I mill a 9/4 slab it takes two years to air dry. Most of the local places that have kilns will not do oak because the tanic acids eat up the insides of their kilns, so I have to air dry the slabs.

That is beautiful stack of lumber. Don't you love cutting out all of the middle men. I would like to see some shot of what you make out of them.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
