Midcentury-style TV Cabinet Credenza

I love midcentury design, in particular Paul McCobb (another MA guy) and his Planner series. Of course, all that stuff is insanely expensive now, and you can't buy much in this style that's really designed for modern use.

My idea was to create something that would hide the soundbar without messing up the sound. Also wanted adjustable shelves and cable management.

It's mostly 1/2 in ply, because I wanted to try and build it a little lighter. In retrospect, I wish I had gone w/ thicker material, and I may build another one soon. The 1/2" just isn't stable enough, and no matter how much you try and make it work, Kreg joinery in 1/2" ply just isn't the best.
The screws are in there, but the glue is what's holding this thing together.

Bought the sliding door tracks at Rockler, just cut em to fit and glued em in. The legs are from tablelegs.com (great service). The grill cloth I found on Amazon, it's basically the same stuff that's on the front of my fender amps. Looks pretty cool, I think - a nice match with the retro cabinet style.

The grill frame pops out by pulling the little strap you see on the left. Inside is the soundbar, the grillcloth doesn't affect it at all, it's designed not to.

All in all a fun, satisfying experiment that I learned a lot by doing – and my living room looks a lot better for my efforts!

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
