Media Cabinet - First Project

My first (adult) wood working project. Kreg jig helped tremendously. Orginally planned for doors on lower left and right... eventually I'll get those done too...maybe.

Thanks. I had the hole plugs but I was a little worried that I would wind up sanding through the veneered ply I used in for the box. Using 1x3s in the face frame helped to keep the holes fairly well tucked out of sight.

RightCycle you should be proud of yourself - that is a great looking cabinet!...thanks for showing the pocket holes too - i hadnt seen them before like this after they had been stained and polished - they certainly dont stand out anywhere near as much as they do on melamine!-yours really blend into the rest of the cabinet, i'd be happy to leave them as is - looks really good, well done!

thanks everyone. much appreciated. I'd share plans if I could but my plans amounted to scribbles and a really rough sketch on a sheet of notebook paper.

Thanks John, The stain was Varathane's Traditional Cherry. Many coats to get it darker. Then about three coats of Varathane's polyurethane satin, sanded between coats. Up to now, I'd only done refinishing projects. I've always had pretty good outcomes with Varathane's products.

Hi RC
Nice first project. I like the picture of the whole piece and also of the kreg jig holes. Very cool. Beautiful finish too. What did you use for the stain and topcoat?

John
