The back is 3/4 birch. The back will mount directly to the wall. then the carcass built in three parts, will have french cleats to attach to the back, once set into place on the back, they get screwed into the back cleat and the back itself. then once all three are in place and leveled up, the face and bottom will be put on. It will have three individual bottoms; one in each case, then one covering the entire assembly. Then the top goes one like the bottom, but the cases do not have their own tops, they only have supports to keep them from twisting.  I will break the whole thing down and take more pix of it as it is all assembled, maybe that will explain better than I am here...

Mike, this will be a great looking cabinet and addition to your cabinetary.  Do you know how you are going to hang it yet?  Since it will have a lot of weight, since you need to use a finished back as well as a top and bottom.  The doors will add some weight and the contents will add even more.  You are at one dis-advantace as you do not have the wall to aid in support  having no sheer factor.  You will have to depend on hanging from the top so it will be mostly a straight downward pressure unless one or both ends attach to the wall.

Sure does look like a great plan.
