Scott, The beauty of the band clamp using the Fern cone" is that you can also use plastic electrical tape and build up the pipe and the band will clamp it tight.  It will also stretch quite a bit over a pipe that is to large.  To help slip it over the pipe loosen the clamp up to a large size and use dish soap as a lubricant.  It will dry and hold tight allowing you to use the band clamp as a final method of tightening.

Scott what about a rubber boot like jay was saying on one end the size of your shop vac hose and the other the size of your dust deputy.

Scott, Yes that is similar as what plumbers in my area call "fern cones".  They are handy little devils and work good on odd sizes pipe.   The items pictured are is a set for ridged vacs and come in a set.

Other that this about the only other suggestion is to check with dust collection system supply dealers if the pipe is odd sized.

Is this kinda what you are referencing as a "fern cone" Jay?

Flexible coupler

That is what I am using to join the top of the Dust Deputy to the PVC piping.

Hi Scott not knowing your pipe size rigid shop vac has a adapter set that includes  a 1 1/2 inch to 1 7/8 inch  and 1 7/8 to a 1 1/4 inch.   If this does not work and you can not find a method of connecting using some of the plumbing fitting in abs or pcv pipe there is also a rubber coupler that allows you to clamp together similar pipe using band clamps.  this is called a "fern cone"  and is found in the plumbing supplies.  There is some that have different sizes on each end so you will have to check.  Other that this some places like "Rocklers and Woodcraft have a selection of duct collection piping with connections.

Scott your shop is starting to come together.  It is looking pretty good.

I know not exactly a woodworking project but I could use a bit of help completeing this.  I used 2" PVC pipe and I am trying to connect the end to a 12 gallon Rigid shop vac.  I found spa flex hose from my local Lowes and with a 2" to 1.5" PVC reducer I have 1 end connected just need the shop vac end now.  Any hints how to complete this?
