I was going to make 4 chairs and a table for our patio. But this one chair took so long to build, I have decided to leave it as one of a kind - no set this year. It's made of cypress. I resawed the wood down to about 3/16" and dry bent it around a form, laminated and glued it up and it did pretty good. The time consuming part was making mortises on the curved surfaces. I love my power tools, but the only way to mortise a curved piece into a curved piece is by hand. I ended up doing through mortises and putting a spline in the tenons. It turned out to be a lot of work to get the angles right on the mortises - I managed to get both sides about right, but I am not sure I could get three more chairs to match! So, this will be a set of one.

Thanks, Justin. LOL, it was more work than I thought it would be! One of these days I am going to try to come up with a design that is a bit easier to build.
Great job William! I can imagine the work this took!
Any chance you have plans for the chair or other pictures of chair to get better idea how to build it
Thanks, Joan. It did turn out okay and I use it regularly on our patio. I appreciate your kind comment.
It's a beautiful chair - I think I would gravitate towards it!

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
