Renee I am like you in that I only really build for family, for me I do woodworking as a hobby, I am sure that people on here can help point you in the right direction.  

some suggestions you could try, are to

  • Advertise in your local paper,
  • Print out some flyers and distribute around your area,
  • Set up a stall at craft markets, 
  • You could even try gallery's that sell custom furniture pieces, 

I am sure that once you start building things for people they will spread the word also.

Thanks Al!  He loved his train table and it was pretty easy to build.  Can you give me any suggestions on how to market my furniture items I make.  Right now I mainly build for family.  I have a order for a friend of my daughters for a mirror-jewelry cabinet .  I'm just not sure how to get started.  I love woodworking and would like to turn it into someday soon a full time job.

Jig settings for 2 ¾ x 1 ½ boards with 30 degree miters?
