I've made a few of these as well, and use Western Red Cedar - and don't stain at all, will let them weather.

Found the receipt, it was select douglas fir, and of course 1 x 6 not 2 x 6 as written above.

Thanks for the comments guys, I actually forget what wood I used. It was the only 2 x 6 that the local Lowes had. I'll check for you the next time I am there, but it wasn't anything fancy. The stain was a Minwax spray can that was called Early American. I then used a post stain sealer as recommended on the can.

The bird feeders turned out great, Nathan! I hope your wife and the neighbors appreciate your hard work! Always great to see the Kreg Project Plans being put to good use! Thanks for sharing.

what did you use to make the bird feeders out of ? also, what kind of stain and color did you use?

Be careful, the Kreg jig can give you more projects than expected! The wife like the first bird feeder I made her and decided the nieghbors needed some too! Here's the finished production line.

Miter Saw Recommendation 1 Reply

I’m looking to upgrade my miter saw. I’m willing to invest a good amount of money to get one with the precision pocket hole joinery requires. Would anyone like to offer a recommended model?

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…

Not Pleased With Pocket Hole Construction
