Hello Denny, This is Tennessee red cedar which is the type that is often used in items like this and as closet lining.  It repels moths an other insects.  You might be familiar with the wood that has an aroma.  It is a soft wood, the colors will be from a red or red brown with streaks of white, black, and sometimes green and yellow depending on the mineral contents of the area where it grew.  It has a knotty content ranging from small pin knots to larger knots.  In the larger knots that are either loose or may become looose I use an epony that I add a black dye into the content to secure the knot.  The black epoxy accents the knots.  This is the wood the traditional cedar chests are made of.   There is a link in my projects page showing a slide show showing the building of this chest.  It should be located right under  the leading phototgraph under the Tennesee Red Cedar project and says "smilebox "

Here is a link you might like to view as I often use it to identify wood and order at times exotic wood from different places in the world.  It is located in southern Oregon (Klamath Falls).
