Share 'Square Cut'

just bought one, great idea! i like to use my ryobi 18v 5 1/2 circular saw alot. i found that the square cut guide arm does not reach the saw base. i was wondering if it would be ok to drill another hole to fix this? their are other circle from the manufacturing process that i think i can use as a guide. whatcha think?? rob
