Thanks Jay for your kind comments concerning my shop. It is very comfortable to work in and I enjoy project time whenever I can get down there! I’m working on a dresser and hutch reuse project to match the headboard I built last month but I’m a bit pressed for time due to a very busy work schedule. I’ll post some pictures next week.

  • Ralph Sarc

I agree it was great chatting with you and you are right it is a small world. I drove back and forth to Salem from Vancouver for about 6 months or so before my promotion to the Silo store in Portland.

As I said we really miss the area and try to visit yearly as we have many friends in the Portland area.

    Have a great day.

  • steve kidd

hi jay. this is what i found on the nailer. it is an accuset A200BN 18 ga 2" utility brad nailer.  serial num is 99900831. got it about 13 years ago. the carring case says accuset, the nailer its self says accuset and senco. again thanks for all you and your contacts are doing, cant thank you enough. talk to you later
  • steve kidd

hi jay, hope all is well. just read the last few comments on not a pancea blog. consider some to be bs. just wanted to check with you on your opinion. if a member dosent post pics of thier work i cant "trust, believe" thier comments. i know not all will post thier work, but if you want to comment have some evidence on your work and skill level. i may be an ass, i know i am. but prove your skill and experience. it just seems some will comment and have no pratical experience with woodworking, they just want to comment and be heard. please let me know your thoughts on this. i may be wrong in my thinking, it happens, i just want some proof of thier knowledge. take care talk to you later.
  • steve kidd

hi jay, got your email. very good points. i just reread the pancea posts and the ones supporting jb dont seem to see where he was insulting the members skill levels. i think we all know about the other joints that can be made, but when he talks about the astetic value of a mt joint he sounds foolish to me. unless its a pass thru mt, you cant even see the "quality joint". glad i gave up commenting on the post. i also read where called someone an ass i think. for you and me alike, he didnt have any evidence to support his comments. and again please dont insult the members of this site with his uppity super skills. oh we did have some bad weather around, but not right here. talk to you later.

hi jay, went to amish country today, great time, i looked at some furniture and was dissapointed. we say some elm, gorgous wood. i knew that i knew something about it, damn dutch elm disease. most pretty grain i have ever seen, wish we could get elm today at a reasonable price. i think i can sell gliders for $300 and make about $200 profit, if i can get the wood form my buddy, will call him mon, take care hope to talk to you soon.
  • steve kidd

ps, the comments you made the other nite have not inflated my ego, just gave me the warm and fuzzy feeling, thanks again, you need to tell tomboy what you said, it will make her smile just like me, comments form someone like you mean so very much, thanks again.
  • Jay Boutwell

IO answered  both comments in a personal e-mail to you.  what is had to day passed the 2000 characters that they allowed
  • John Harrison

Thanks Jay.  If there's one thing I've learned in the last 25 yrs, it's that you never stop learning when it comes to woodworking.  Even the most novice woodworker can come up with a Jig or trick to make things easier, as well as a great project idea.  I look forward to learning even more from the Kreg community, and offer any experience of my own that I can.
  • steve kidd

jay, just to be safe here is my personal email, skidd913@yahoo.com

    Jay,

I received your email on my smartphone this morning, however, its no longer on my profile page. I also left a comment on the Kreg Experience thread last night prior to KregRep opening a spam thread. That too is gone. Can you please check my photos and see if the spam is still viewable to you?

    Thanks for all your help.

    hi jay

you were right, thanks again I ran a deep scan last night. found and removed were as follows trojan:win/32hilolo.gen!d  and  virtool:jsobfuscator.ay It didn't tell me when i got them ,but it found and removed them.

    once again thanks alot

    Ray

  • Jay Boutwell

Good morning Ray:  the trojan you found is slisted by Mircosoft to be a serious threat and it is in the system 32 files and interfers with your browser and downloads as well as does it's own abritary files. It is also known as the trojan zefarch named by symantec.  In order to remove it you MUST turn off your system restore files and delete thoes files and remove it from the operating system.  If you don't it will return to you computer.   In order to determine where it came you have to load some software in to your computer that tells you what the originating ip address was that sent it.  That is what I did and is why i know where my crapo came from ;  The other person whom had computer prop[blems worse than I did was a mutual friend of both you and I and his was much worse and he had hid fixed bya computer tec and was told that his came also from the same ip address.  What I am going to do is set up my kreg jig community on an old crappy computer that i hardly use and use it just for kreg jig.  That is the only real solution for me at this point.  The other would be to of course dump the site.   The web site address is:216.45.48.190 and 8.6.19.68 which is a ning server located in palo alto california.  This is where i traced my crap to.
  • Michael Campbell

Jay,  Thanks for the idea with the CD,  I used it on my last customer and they loved it.  It was mainly just pictures of their project.  I need to learn a little more on the use and tools of the computer to make a good CD to get my name  on it.  But they loved it and said they were looking forward to showing it off.  Thanks again Jay.     Michael
  • Mike Kahle

Thanks Jay. I just put a new plug cord on it and replaced the connections at the switch since they showed their age. I am actively searching for a table design, and will build a new cabinet for it this week or so.
  • Jay Boutwell

You are most welcome Mike.  I think you have a nice shop addition.  What makes a nice table for these and some times are pretty much for the hauling is from doors shops.  Find a lumberyard or place that deals with house doors and solid core doors especially the exterior doors and grab one of the toss out and or a cut outs for window glass.  Thes are very solid and stable making an excellent table as they are flat and smooth.  You can make a cut off the back making a two piece of which you can use a piece of 3/4 inch hardwood as a fence.

    Hi, Jay,

Thanks for the link you sent to the Stanton Furniture website - wow, they have a ton of stuff, and it looks great - that's a fantastic inspiration for future projects.

    Did you get a gripper?

Also did they get any of the zip mortisers?

  • Gary roofner

Good news on gripper. I changed my mind on the mortiser went with a dowel jig from amazon self centering. I missed the rockler sale on gripper from rockler had a 20% off and $10 off would have been $61 with shipping and taxes.
  • Gary roofner

I was waiting for your reply as to your fellings on the mortising jig. I did however buy a self centering dowel jig that works well with my Incra T square for layout.
  • ray vile

  • steve kidd

hi jay, hope all is well. i feel the need to vent. there are two members on this site, with no pics of there work, but they comment all the time. they may be awoesome craftsmen but show your work, if you can comment all the time then learn and take the time to post your work. im sure you can figure out the two that im commenting about. just pisses me off to see thier posts and dont have evidence of their work. i know some dont know how to post pics but i think they are chicken shit members to comment and not post pics. please set me straight on my opinions, i may be right or wrong, just need some input from a trusted friend and craftman to help me see the big picture. thanks, take care, talk to you later.
  • Gary roofner

I received my beadlocker router bit. Dissappointed no setup directions with the bit. Did your brother get his yet?
  • steve kidd

hi jay, your the best person i know to ask. and im sure you have made secret compartemts in furniture. please give me some ideas and clues on what and how to make them. really dont need to hide anything, but like the idea of a hidden, or secret compartment. would like to incorporate them into all my next projects. thanks again as always. steve
  • steve kidd

think i will start a blog on this topic, thanks again for any input. i know you know what you are talking about.
  • steve kidd

hi jay, leslee asked me to have you request her as a friend. thanks
  • steve kidd

hi jay, its ken darga and mike shoban, mike commented on furnature, said he would leave the overachieving to the rest of us, that pissed me off. both may be fine craftsman but not showing work and commenting hundreds of times makes me wonder
  • Robert Brennan

    Jat,

Nice to have friends in the know.

My attempts to obtain a GR 200 are still ongoing, when I found out that Northwood was the supplier I was already to do a bike run and buy 2x of them.

However the Floods apparently wiped out the business and they closed down.

The following email is from the Northwood Ownwer.

All good things come to an end . . .

It is with much sadness and regret I send this message to all current Northwood Newsletter subscribers.

After the recent floods I was forced to move premises, and try to rebuild the wreck that resulted from the January disaster that hit much of Queensland.

In the fullness of time, I realised the job was massive and to be honest I just do not have the zest or desire to start all over again.

The woodworking business has been purchased by Chris Hudson who I believe is changing the web site to a totally different operation. He can be contacted at sales@northwoodtools.com.au or 0427 800 464 in the meantime.

Please note I have no involvement in the woodworking business from 1st may 2011.

To you all a hearty thankyou and goodbye.

    Colin Rayner
