Hi Mike. Glad to accept. I've been on a couple of knife forums and have liked being able to communicate with people of like interests that you would normally never meet. Not to mention the sharing of knowledge.
Thanks for the father's day wish. Same to you. I seldom pay attention to dates anymore. Birthdays, etc. On May 19th my wife said she found what she wanted to get me for father's day. This is usually something I really don't want but this time it was a Kreg jig. Been wanting one for a few years but never got one. I got excited and looked up when father's day was. I saw the 21st but missed the month being June. I thought it was two days away. So I jumped in the car to go to Lowe's and get my father's day present. I really thought father's day was two day away. Then yesterday I actually found out today was father's day. Wife said she wondered why I was so quick to get my present. She didn't know I thought it was a couple of days away. Anyway, I got the jig a month early. :) Today was pretty good. Yesterday and today been working on the pool deck. We haven't used the pool in about 3 years and there were literally frogs living in it. It's an above ground pool 24' diameter, 4' deep. But we dug it out 2 feet deeper in the middle so you can jump in if you want. Half of the pool is surrounded with a deck at pool top level with a little changing room. Anyway, thanks to my son I now have a 5 year old grandson who is possibly the only real reason to live. Not really but compared to him everything else takes a back seat. He likes Lowe's too. I think he knows all the cashiers. We have half the deck done including the stairs so everyone can access the water. The rest of the deck is usable (no rotten wood) but just not finished. Son goes back to work tomorrow so I hope to finish it this week. I can't work in the heat like I used to. But a couple of hours in the morning and evening I should be able to have it ready for the weekend. It was good though because we got a rhythm going in measuring, marking, cutting, screwing the lumber. Of course that was after removing the old stuff. I didn't use exterior screws when we built the deck to begin with and I regretted it big time. The screw heads would break off leaving the screw holding the boards in place. So out come the crowbar and hammer. NEVER again will I use an interior screw for outside work. This is the first time I ever disassembled anything like that. I'm sure the reason for choosing those screws was because of price. But if I had known about this experience I wouldn't have made that choice. I'm using the right screws this time. I considered some of the Kreg deck tools but opted not to get any. I don't do decks often. This was the second time and it was re-furbing the only one I built. We did use good wood though so only one of the under side boards needed to be replaced. I was real happy about that. Still need to concrete a couple of 4x4's to enlarge one side just a bit. Other than that it's mainly just replacing the top boards.
Sorry to get so long winded. Just came in, sat down and am cooling off. On a really bright side is having a pool to jump in to cool off. We had replaced the liner and the pool is now about 3/4 full. Takes a LOOOONNNGG time to fill up with one water hose. lol
