found this site for good plans They are also on face book.Im doing a TV Lowboy center have some photos as I go on my page. Also had a person stop in the other day and wants price on 4 screen doors
Good profit on those.I get the most beautiful tight knot pine 1x6x8 for 2.00 a board. 3 boards to do a door ,screen wire is 7.00.,I have about 20.00 in whole door and get any where from 125.00 up to as high as 235.00 for some real fancy ones, lots of gingerbread on the pricey doors.I stain or paint and do not furnish any hardware

Did you update to latest upgrade or are you using the one that is on disk?
I did a update but I cant seem to use arrow key to fine tune to 1/2 inch marks.lso the start up page is difficult to use. Used to be able to choose 25x25 or 100x 100 not with new plan it is cursor movement by whatever you choose.

Going down a buy a dust collector today.Tired of waiting to do any finish work. But then that might be a good thing just let customer do it and save the hassle with color and final appearance

Take a break and get the family out for a supper with all the money your making. You must be pounding out the cases.I did real good this month total of 7 doors and a repair on two more. Also built a huge birdhouse with my old barn wood.

  • Jens Jensen

Where are you at? Have not seen you on the web site for a month of Sundays
  • Thomas Prescott

    David,

Your comment made me chuckle.  It never ceases to amaze me how people will buy that crappy furniture at the big boxes for more than they are willing to pay for custom work.  I'm 60 this month and still working on figuring that out.

Hi David,  I will draw up some detail diagram of a corner lazy susan cabinet tonight and will get it to you.  I don't build from plans so never have one available.  They are actually easy to build and are the best solution.  I have never has a customer complainant.  On my page I have a collection of hickory cabinets displayed.  The one you see that is by the black double oven is a lazy susan corner cabinet with a wing door that opens outward and divides in the middle on salice 165 degree European Hinges that allow the door to fold in the middle and then up against the adjoining cabinets.  Totally puts the  door out of the way for easy cabinet access.  It has a white two tray pie shape trays of which each tray is independently adjustable from the other and each tray spins either way and has a bearing to allow smooth operation and stops in the detent so the door will close without hitting the cabinet contents.  Later, jay

I have figured the panel sizes for a standard 36" high cabinet providing you are using a 3/4 " thick top and a cabinet without the seperate toe kick under the cabinet box.  If so adjust accordingly.  Also the measurments I gave you in the earlier diagram are correct however please note that this is finish measurments and not allowing for a facevframe.  If you are using 3/4" face frame deduct 3/4 " from the  four red colored sections in the atached photo .  It is confusing so measurement should be 22 1/2 " on the floor where it says 23 1/4 ".  Then both end panels need to be 3/4 " less in width as you are adding the 3/4 " back in when adding the face frame.  You will also need to adjust the floor to match the other cabinets.  The one rear panel that is 36" wide in which ever one you have exposed to view after install.  This allows you to hide the end grain of the two end panels.
  • Jay Boutwell

David, Please refer to Justins page for the other diagram I sent him earlier.  Hope you can read my measurments on the blocks.,  jay

Dave what settings would I use for a 4x4 post to attach to 2x6 decking .I have a small picket fence to put up for a lady and dont want to dig up yard. She has a wooden walkway that I put down couple years ago and now wants a 2 foot picet fence  .Thought i would just drill the post to top of deck on sides of post

Hello David, Thanks for the invite !! I see you have been using the Kreg tool quite a bit. You have some nice looking projects !! I'm on a farm and that keeps me hopping. I will do some projects when I get a free moment or two.

  • Debbie

Thanks David.  I decided to use a countersink hole in the brace at an angle so that the screw would enter the receiving chair rail at 90 degrees, then screw it in with Kreg screws and it worked great.  I've been eyeing those mini jigs, and I think I have to buy one.  Thanks for your help.

You have some very fortunate customers. They get sturdy, good looking furniture.

  • Leslee

     Hi, David.

I just wanted to let you know I like your bedside tables. The oak really gives it the clean refine look that you see in those fine furniture places. keep with the quality craftsmanship and pride you get when you that you built that to last just like the old craftsmen of the past.

I also like your dresser that was really pretty.

David--thank you for your kind offer.  I have old tools from my folks and I don't even know what they are.  I know one is a miter saw, but that's all.  I don't have a Kreg jig, but I would like to buy one.  Which one is the best for a beginner?

    Julie

  • Julie Humphreys

I'll see where the best place to buy one is.  I saw one on Ebay for $139.00 with free shipping.

    Thank you!

(and don't worry about your spelling!  I spell very well, but I sure can't do the beautiful woodwork that you do!)

  • Sean

  • james wilhelm

Thank you David, for you comment on my bench. It was made from what they call wrap a rounds, they stack  on top of a skid to make a box . I really enjoy looking at your projects they are very good, have a great day , JIM

  • Leslee

Like your file cabinet. Could you tell me what kind of wood you use on it. I sure like the way the wood grain pops on the corners and such. It even gets me wanting to do something like that for me in my shop. Now that I can do it under roof in a dry place.

  • james wilhelm

David , thanks for the compliment on my storage  bench. The boards were used to make a box on top of a skid , 7 1/4 " wide 40 " long . They have metal brackets on the corners and the stack them on top of each other to make the box as high as they need !! I just take them home and cut the brackets off and sq. up the ends and they never make it into the dumpster , the guys I used to work with save them for me !!! And as always you did a great job on the file cabinet , really like to see your projects. Thanks for sharing, JIM
