12 X 16. But, if laid out correctly its efficient. I have everything I need to complete most any project. The onl item I have outside my shop is my dust collector system.

Hugh,

I also have a 24 X 32 shop that I built two years ago. And like you I keep my ATV in there so I had to build another 14 X 18 shed to store wood and mowers etc. When you think you have enough room oops, something else comes up.

I built a 24X30 detached garage and it is primarily my wood shop. I've kept just about everything mobile as I occasionally have to park my truck there. There is more than enough room for now. That may change when I've acquired all the toys, er, tools I want. :)

I just built a 24x40 shop. Havent really been able to use it, too cold. But I think the size will work out well. I have a table saw, 22" drum sander, jointer, dust collector, router table and many cabinets, benches and lots of wood storage. good luck, hope this info helps

Size is only relevant to the operator. I remember a hundred years ago when I had a couple power tools and worked outside to make something. Than went to a 26 X 26 garage that I shared with cars, motorcycle whatever. Than to a 24 X 40 heated shop to a 48 X 72 heated shop. But when the shops get to big other things start moving in. Like trailers and stuff. Now looking at a 40 X 80 pole shed for cold storage to free up the heated shop more.

Good luck finding the size that is right for you. Some of us might never do that.

12 x 19 always could be bigger

The ATVs have moved to the attached garage and the lawn and garden stuff is in a 10 X 12 behind my shop. :)

I had to use my carport and backyard for building anything until recently. I was able to purchase a 12 x 20 utility building and set it up as a work shop. I am in the process of insulating it. I have one wall almost done. I have built a work bench and two cabinets for benchtop bandsaw and drill press. I added a loft on both ends of the building for storage of wood and tools. It is wired with 20 amp receptacles. I am looking to purchase wood for future projects. I can tell that it is not big enough but I will make it work and be satisfied.

Mark thats not fair you sent your wife out there and scrubbed it from top to bottom .Send her this way whe she has time off

I live in fl so I have an electric heater in the winter and an window air conditioner in summer.  summer is the worst.  Lots of times I move outside under shade tree.

I use a electric heater. Also I have a kerosene heater in the shop but have not used it yet.
