<p>None of that was my question... My question was simply whether to use the standard jig or the HD jig which uses a larger diameter screw for 50% more strength. Since the HD jig was designed for 2x4s for benches and outdoor furniture and such, I decided to go ahead and use it. Got all the machine work done today and tomorrow I will do the assembly.</p>

<p>When drilling pocket holes, use the required amount of spacer blocks on the jig, for the intended material thickness.</p>
<p>You want the screw exiting in the center of the workpiece, that you are drilling the pocket hole into.</p>
<p>Make sample test pieces to insure your getting adequate thread engagement.</p>
<p>The deeper the threads engage, the stronger joined member you'll have.</p>
