Hey there.... I'm looking for plans / ideas / do's / don'ts / or web site(s) with ideas about construction of a wine rack. I'm hoping to take advantage of a kitchen nook about 22" wide.
Depth... bottle deep, height to start 24" high & topping out min 72" ( maybe more ) above the floor level. Any advice would be appreciated. My skill level .... advanced novice. Thanks !

Ken, check out my photo, I made one out of Maple. The wine bottles are roughly 4 inches wide, so I measured the interior of my cabinet width and height. Using 3/4 inch thick stock, run dadoes on the end of the board, measure 4 1/4 and cut another dado (which should be 3/8 deep), so on and so on. Use full size boards to start then you can rip them to make your strips. This sounds complex, but it's a lot easier to show you. You're just making a grid is all you're doing.
Very nice!

Justin, very nice and would be a very nice looking rack for any kitchen or dining room. I like the simple looks and no nonsense design. It looks good even when empty and if you place some wine bottles in it it will become the main feature of the cabinet. This would look good made with a clear coat in oak, hickory or walnut and even painted. Nice work, and thank you for posting a new idea. I like the horizonal design as opposed to the diamond style.
Thanks Jay and Ken! I liked it horizontally too. It can be cut to do the diamond look by making it oversize then cutting one side at 45 degrees etc. I am also going to be making one in the next couple of weeks for my kitchen Ken if you can wait that long, I will post pics of the process if you want.
Justin,
Yes I can wait...
3 weeks is okay too.
Hi
Nice post.If you are going to build your own rack then you might want to take a look at wine rack plans that were designed by a professional craftsman. If you do this then you can rest assured that they know what they are talking about and are going to make sure that you have a good design and that all of the proper materials are used.Continue reading

I am building a small trunk for a military friend to put some belongings in. I have made legs out of ash hardwood and will make the sides out of 1/2” or 3/4” Baltic birch plywood. The legs are 1.5” thick by 2” wide. So since I’m drilling pockets in…Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
