Jens,

I started with a pencil sharpener but didn't like the angle it was cutting. Finally wised up and chucked each one up in the cordless drill and ran them across a rasp clamped to the bench and then sandpaper. I think I saw a tool for that task at my favorite tool shop. May have to go invest in one before I tackle one of these again. Merry Christmas.

Yep tha'st what I was going to mention also. I no when I make my pocket plugs for some reason Kreg drill  and dowels I use are just a slightest bit off so I chuck up drill and dowel and spin it in sandpaper just to get a tiny bit of wood off.

I made several personalized name plates and signs, for family members.

Each was hand-crafted, carved, and finished.

It took up more time than I originally planned.

Ken; you may want to check out a site called stantonfurniture.com

they don't have plans, they are just a furniture web-site, but if you are looking for some Mission style furniture, this place has got some really beautiful pieces. It might be worth a look-see

Leonard,

The next time I go to Portland, I'll check 'em out.

Built this workbench for my son-in-law.  My first Kreg project.  Nice gift for him and learning experience for me.  Applying edging to mdf can be a pain.  After several failed tests, I managed to glue and and brad gun the edging without blowing out the edge.

Merry Christmas to you Dave. That is a very nice looking workbench and being ii is your first project means all the more to the giver and receiver. What problem did you have with edging?

Keep projects coming we all like to see advancements in woodworking over period of time. Personaly I no my attempts have gotten better as I keep pluggin away.  (Not any pun in pluggin)

Thnaks Jens.  I appreciate your compliments.  Read that edge fastening to mdf was problematic.  How true.  It tends to split.  I was using two layers and glued and shot the 3/4 edging with a 1 1/4 brad nailer.  That worked fine.  My tests with screws and nails failed.  Probably pilot holes to small.  It all worked out and a learning experience.

David,

I wouldn't use metal fasteners for that applicaton---

potential problems later,

such as when using chisels, or equiv tools,

they'll get damaged.

I'd attached the edging with biscuits or spline joinery and glue-up.

Ken,

Thanks for the advice.  Since I don't have a biscuit joiner, I didn't think of that.  Sounds like I may have to buy another toy.  Darn!!!

David,

If you don't have a biscuit joiner, then use ''spline joinery''.

The grooves can be made with a router.

Built this for my grandson, christmas and 2nd birthday.
