Kreg Owners' Community

Just thought I would start a discussion on woodworkers real jobs. It would be fun to no if there are lots of professional people using Kreg Jig along with people  like myself a retired  construction worker.

I'm Mike From Wisconsin, I got into wood working about six years ago. During the week I'm a out side salesman on the road alot. On the weekends I like to go to my workshop and make something constructive. Right now I'm finishing my basement ( man cave) making book cases and case for my flat screen TV.

Thanks for your story

You need a shop with a stressful job like that

I'm a Software Engineer/Project Manager.  Woodworking and the shop let's me just get away from that kind of BS.  With a piece of wood or a project, I can see the end result and touch the product.  Way more fun.

I'm Steve from Iowa.  I'm head of IT for a group of 22 public radio stations, taking care of a very large server room and automation system.  I've done woodworking for about 35 years now, following footsteps of my scandinavian grandfather and great-grandfather.  Currently I'm working at finishing off 1600 sq ft of my basement that will include a 350 sq ft woodworking shop.  I"m new to the Kreg line of equipment but only live about 25 miles from their factory here in Iowa, so I know where to get help if I need it!  ;)

that shop sounds like a great project.Would like to see pictures when finished

Mike from Decatur Alabama. I am the Lead Quality Assurance Specialist on Delta IV rockets.

I work for Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). DoD government worker. :-)

I'm Joe from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I am a retired Air Force Officer (32 years) who has a passion for woodworking; in fact, if I could go back in time I would have become a carpenter/cabinet maker. Currently, I make canoe paddles and small cabinetry. I also have a passion for golf and own a share in a private equity club here in Ottawa. My degree background is in science. I have recently purchased the Kreg Router Table with all the attachments and must say it has become my favourite shop tool.

I’m Roy Moses from the Texas Hill Country and I’m new to all of this. Six weeks ago I didn’t know a pocket screw from a pickpocket, and I’ve already used them in a project to build a work bench (pocket screws, that is, not pickpockets).

My real job these days is more or less trying to get out of bed every morning, take the dog (Rambo) out and fetch the morning paper. Some days I win, some days I lose.

However, when I was gainfully employed I spent most of my days in front of college classes teaching journalism, mostly at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. When I first retired, my primary goal was to play golf as often as possible; however after a few years of that some health problems dictated otherwise, altho at the time I thought it was a temporary setback. It now appears otherwise.

One of the advantages of living here is that the local Kerr Arts and Cultural Center annually sponsors a furniture makers show and competition. The first year I attended I was blown away, not only by the imaginative designs these skilled people came up with, but with the quality of their workmanship. This year’s show closed early this month, but anyone desiring more info can Google Kerr Arts and Cultural Center.

Hello,Im Randy from Indiana.I work  maintenance at a moulding co. Been there for 18yrs. I work on the big stuff our moulders run from 30ft/min to 300ft/min.Love working with wood.

For the past 43 years I have been in the retail food business, and currently manage a 55,000 sq foot food/pharmacy that does 50+ million in sales a year. My job is very demanding, with long hours, and when I want to get away from it all I head to my shop and get "lost" in my woodworking.  I really enjoy building furniture, and always build two of every thing, one for each of my two kid's

Now that sounds very interesting ,What is a food pharmacy?
