Well about a month ago I bought a feather board and a new blade for the table saw. A few days latter I was looking for it, couldnt find it anywhere. So finally I began a long needed claening of my work bench. Sure enough there both otems were, still in the bag..... Guess it is time to clean shop, maybe I can find that old 69 stang I once had .. LOL

I was building a laundry folding table for my wife. I had all the pieces cut, the drawers dovetailed and was ready to glue and screw it together. I had it temporarily assembled to make sure the pieces fit together one last time when my wife walked in and said "looks great, but will you be able to fit it down the stairwell and into the basement?" To which I replied REALLY annoyed, "do you honestly think I would build something that wouldn't fit down the stairs?" She left in a…

As I was contemplating sleeping on the couch for my tone with her, I took a minute and thought about it, grabbed the measuring tape and went into the house. The table was 4" too wide for the stairwell. When I made the final cuts for assembling the door out of oak 1x2's guess what... the door was 3" shorter than what I measured to need. I looked at it and looked at it trying to figure out what I did and realized that the original plan did not call for mitered corners for the door and I mitered them to make them look nicer. Aparently even though I cut everything to length correctly 1.5 + 1.5 = 3 in any language. I ended up making a filler pannel for above the door and may someday switch it out with a stained glass pannel 3" tall x 21" long. Won't intentionally make that mistake again I guess!

More than ten years ago I installed four 8 foot 2 bulb flourescent lights in my shop which is 12 feet wide by 29 feet long. I wanted to make sure that I had plenty of light in order to "mearure twice - cut once." About 6 months ago I noticed that one of the bulbs in the light above my table saw began to "flicker." Of course - I didn't have any extra bulbs at the time to replace the bad bulb. Of course the only time I would remember that I needed a new bulb was when I went into my shop and…
More than ten years ago I installed four 8 foot 2 bulb flourescent lights in my shop which is 12 feet wide by 29 feet long. I wanted to make sure that I had plenty of light in order to "mearure twice - cut once." About 6 months ago I noticed that one of the bulbs in the light above my table saw began to "flicker." Of course - I didn't have any extra bulbs at the time to replace the bad bulb. Of course the only time I would remember that I needed a new bulb was when I went into my shop and turned on the lights. After six months I finally remembered (when I was at the hardware) store that I needed a new bulb. After replacing the burnt out bulb I discovered that the light still wouldn't work. I figured the starter was bad so after about a week of searching I finally found an electric supply store that had a replacement starter. I took the light down - replaced the starter - and since I had the light down I CLEANED THE BULBS! So . . . since I had cleaned the bulbs on this light I took a look at the other lights and decided that I would clean ALL the bulbs. This was the FIRST time in more than ten years that I cleaned the bulbs. And now . . . my shop is so "BRIGHT" that I almost need sun glasses! I was thinking to my self that all these years I was working in a dark and gloomy atmosphere. I just sat there and laughted at myself. How stupid of me. (Ha!) I was a boat builder for year…tag:kregjig.ning.com,2011-03-03:2900167:Comment:1624032011-03-03T14:19:01.360ZGene Maioranohttps://kregjig.ning.com/profile/GeneMaiorano
I was a boat builder for years, for a living. I've known boat enthusiasts who have built boats in their garage and had to dismantle the garage door opening to get it out years later so don't feel bad.
