Ok, I bought my Kreg master pocket hole jig at Lowes, but sadly, the only 2 1/2" screws that they have are the ones that you would use on outside projects, and my very first project is a night stand made out of old 2x4s that i am getting from old pallets, i have gone to home depot, but they do not have them either, Sutherlands ??? well, they don't even carry anything by Kreg. where am i suppose to find the proper screws at ?? i bought some other brand of pocket hole screws, but i do not know if  i should even go ahead and use them or not. would i be able to use the outside screws for projects that are going to be inside the house?? or should i stick with indoor screws ??? if any one in or around joplin missouri can help me out and tell me where i can find the indoor screws that are 2 1/2" that i need for my project, i would greatly appreciate it.

Hello paul!

I use a lot of 2x4's on my projects, so that means 2½" screws. Lowe's only carries a 50 or 100 count container, so I brought online a 2000 count box cause it was a good deal and so I will have plenty for my projects. They are the blue-kote kind and are good for either indoor or outdoor projects.

Go to Amazon.com and look for what you need for your projects. I had also gotten a 1000 count box of 1¼" screws for 1x projects.

Be aware of the stainless steel screws as they are expensive. A 2000 count 2½" stainless steel screws are $395 as compared to a 2000 count 2½" blue kote screws for $68.

Hey Paul have you tryed going to your a hardware store that sale's HWI producks. My hard ware store is Whitaker's

and they can put order on a saterday and come tuesday my screws are in I even get my clamps throw tham as will I hate going to lowe's or the other place's they dont have very much .

Hi Paul, try Sears or ACE hardware. Sears carries them on internet orders, some larger stores may stock them. Out here in the boonies I've had to get all mine via the Internet except for some minimal quanties from HD and DoItBest.

At Amazon they have 2½" screws....

50 count box - $6.36 - .12 per screw

2000 count box - $67.99 - .03 per screw

So 40 boxes with 50 count equals 2000 screws.... 40 x 6.36 = $254.40

Now you see why I brought the 2000 count box.

Please note the shipping charge was about $20, but even 2 boxes are still cheaper.

Buying through Amazon, shipping is usually free over $25. Sure isn't hard to get to $25

Go to McFeeleys .com http://www.mcfeelys.com/ you will find what you need there

I purchase all my screws from McFeelys

I have found I use #8 size mostly and not 6-7or10 etc. etc. http://www.mcfeelys.com/tech/dimensions.htm
