Kreg Owners' Community

Hi FOLKS I thought I would come on here because I understand that Kreg is involved with Triton Routers which are one of the best routers on the market . Saying that, I have a problem . I purchased a triton router for my router table about a year ago and it has been working fine for about 6 months however now when I crank it up to change the bit nothing happens , the crank just turns and clicks but the router will not lift . It's the 2 1/4 horse model.

Any help would be appreciated ...thanks.

Hi Fred, I own the triton 3 1/4 hp and it is mounted into a router table.  So far it works great.  It is comparable to your 2 1/4 hp and I do know that when the micro winder was first introduced it was made with a plastic worm gear and some have been failing.   They are replacing the gear with a metal worm gear when they fail.

You might try to reset the router mode from the plunging mode back to the winder mode and be sure that it is locked into the winder mode.  This is done using the inter ring on the winding knob.

Wish I could help you with more information.

I just bought the same model used.  I don't have answer but I checked on router forum to find an answer for you and here is a link  http://www.routerforums.com/table-mounted-routing/41283-table-mount... You may need to joint to read but it is another excellent site. You could post there for an answer. There are people there that like this router part of the reason I bought mine.

I agree with you they helped me get the parts I needed for use router. Plus fixed the problem when I did not receive my parts from shipper by resending overnight at there expense.

Got the new worm gear last night , installed it this morning (in about 15 minutes) . The router now works just like new . THANKS AGAIN KREG FOR GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!!
