Kreg Owners' Community

I have a quick question about toe kicks. I made my kitchen cabinets from the kreg cabinet plan book. Great book followed it and everything seemed to come to geter except the toe kicks. My toe kicks are the same width as my carcass box. I didn't take that into consideration when building. Actually I should have just waited and did the toe kick after I was done and scribed the floor to the toe kick.

So here is my question. Do I cover it up with a thin board and put the same finish on it or do I try and pull the glued and screwed toe kicks off and re do them?

Any and all advice would be great.

Thank you

Corey

When I build cabinets, I like to install them all, shimmed and leveled as needed, and then come in and put in a continuous cover across all of the toe kicks so that everything looks connected. I've done this by simply cutting a piece of 1/4" plywood.

In my last kitchen, the house was very old (1882) and the floors not very flat or level, meaning I had gaps and shims under the toekicks. So, I made paper templates for each section of cabinets, and then scribed them to match the "contour" of the floor. I transferred the templates to the plywood, cut them to fit, stained, finished, and installed.
