I've seen this term "resawing" come up quite  a bit regarding bandsaws, so naturally, i looked it up and found a very interesting video on the physics of resawing on a bandsaw.

I was overwhelmed by the information provided on bandsaws when I was shopping for one last year. This video was tremendous help in determining what I needed. If you need more resaw capacity, it doesn't make sense to add riser blocks (unless of course you LIKE buying saw blades). :) It certainly looks like overkill when I'm cutting pen blanks on my 18 in., 2.5 HP saw, though.

How big are those pen blanks your cutting on an 18 in 2.5HP bandsaw?

Are they like baseball bat sizes? 

Russ, Thanks for sharing this information, I'm loking for a real bandsaw as my next major purchase. I need something to replace the 9'' craftsman that I found on craigs list for 25.00.
