Matthew, In my work I am often building add on cabinets of which customers want to have the same color as the cabinets that are already exhisting.  This means stains and colors that have been exposed to light and ageing of the wood colors.  The method I use is to have the color computer analized by the paint supplier and have a color mixed.  In my case I would take a sample such as a door or drawer along with the new cabinet wood I am using and have it matched.  In your case you most likely can not do this so as a suggestion I would get a sample of a piece of both woods that tend to match your project and stain the predominate wood the color you want and take the pieces to the paint supplier and see if it can be matched. In selecting the test wood pieces take into consideration of not only the wood colors but also the grain.  This will give you a basic  idea of how these two woods respont to stains.

thanks for the tips guys!!  i got it matched up pretty good!!
