i have a milwaukee airless/finish paint sprayer M4910-20. i have used it once and became frustrated. finish turned out ok but i brushed the rest of my doors. i really want to be able to use the sprayer but i need some advice, such as:
do you thin your paint and how much and with what do you thin with
do you use the hvlp or the airsprayer
what are the settings you are using when spraying
have you sprayed ploy, did you thin it, hvlp or airsprayer
i would appreciate all advice and hints. im really looking forward to being able to spray finishes but need a little direction. thank you all for your comments

Rick,
You are atomizing a petroleum distillate. Key phrase is "atomizing, as in bomb". Put on some long johns and spray outside still using a proper mask and eye protection, cold air is dry air, and bye the way, you're wife is right, lacquer stinks.

I've been using a Graco HVLP system to finish 15 interior doors and now kitchen cabinets. My experience has taught me that getting the proper tip is the most important item. I've been using water borne poly with great results. Use either sealer or a thin coat of poly for the first coat, sand, then a second heavier coat. I keep a brush handy if I get a run it brushes out easily. I even had 2 gallons of catalyzed Bona floor finish left and sprayed it and it turned out great.
