Thank you John. That is exactly what I did wrong. From watching the video I thought for 1 1/2 you pushed the drill bit all the way into the guide, but now I see that is about 3/8ths too deep. Fortunately that is only one short length of 2X4 that is going into my scrap pile. I am sure it will not be the last. :)

Hmm, I do that quite often and haven't had the problem. I'm guessing one or the other settings is off. Most likely the pocket depth (stop collar).
