We are building a significant storage cabinet in our wood working shop.  It has 66 drawers.

They range from 3", 5", 8", 9", and 11" heights.  I am trying to figure out how many pocket holes I need to put these drawers together.

They will hold things like heavy tools, socket sets, nails, screws, etc.

I have read in the forum 2" from edge then every 6" however, for an 9" drawer that would only be two pocket holes.  Seems like it would need more. We plan to glue as well as pocket hole.

They will be made from 1/2" plywood.  The bottom drawers are 34.5" deep, the tops 19" deep.  We plan to use screws on the bottom of the drawer.

What would be optimum spacing for pocket holes for drawers that will hold lots of weight?

Thanks

Donna

For my 4" & 6" drawers, I used 3 screws; 8"  and 10" drawers got 4 screws.  I spaced 2-3" apart.   I don't think I used glue on any of them, but I don't have the weight you are planning on.  My drawer bottoms are also ¼" plywood riding in dadoes.

Storing heavy weight objects in the 8-11" deep drawers,

I'd use 3/4" thick stock, for the front, sides and back,.

1/2"' stock for the bottom and dado for the bottom shelf engaging with the verticle members.

1/2" material will support more weight.

Also, suggest installing a center support, front to back---

so as to prevent sagging in the drawer bottom.

I'd recommend using glue to secure the bottom panel in the dado's.

Thank ya'll for the info!
