Kreg Owners' Community

From what I have read on the Kreg site the jigs centre the screw in wood up to 1 1/2 inches. I would like to use pocket holes on timber larger than this. Is it possible to create affective pocket holes for larger timber for a stick frame shed? So a 2 inch or 2 1/2 inch joint would be ideal

I could put pocket hole on both sides of the timber, but that doubles the amount of work!

If this is possible I assume the resulting joint would be strong enough?

Thank you for your help.

I did something similar when constructing my building, I just used the little mini jig and through trial and error moved it back and forth until I got it setup where it was supposed to be.
You can use the Kreg Jig in material thicker than 1 1/2" but the screw will not come out in the center. You would still set up everything like 1 1/2". This shouldn't be a problem because with it set up this way your 2 1/2" screw will go into your second piece 1 1/4" inches. This should be more than sufficient for most applications.
