I am new to woodworking and am thrilled with the Kreg system,  I have done some practice with 3/4" MDF and have split the receiving piece.  I am using proper depth for the collar and 1 1/4 coarse screws.  I have to get this solved before trying any projects.  This isn't a problem with hard woods.  Thanks

David, good question. This can happens fairly rarely depending on the type of MDF you're working with. Here are a few tips that should help you out! http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=285233479901
David, your problem is probably the torque that you have set on your drill. Back it down to about half of its current setting and see if that helps. If not, back it down some more. Another possible solution is slowing down the speed of the drill when setting screws. Good luck. Bob
Thanks to all who responded, the tips are great. As I said, I really enjoy working with the Kreg jig and this will help me a lot. David

I use 2 drill with the Kreg. A corded one when drilling the pocket holes, then a "cheap" cordless (much less power) with the torque set at about 1/2 the max to drive in screws. You definitely have to learn the "feel" of when the screw is just deep enough. Good luck.
