I do not understand how to set up for different thickness boards. I want to drill pocket holes in an     1 1/2" thick board and attach it to a 1/2" thick board. Where do I set the stop on the drill bit and where do I set the guide? Quick start manual refers settings to thickness of your work piece but which work piece? They are different thicknesses. Also which screw do I use so as to not go through the 1/2" plywood?

Hello Ronnie-

I had the same questions when I purchased my Kreg Jig. If I am understanding your question correctly you are wanting to screw the 1 1/2" board to the 1/2" since you said you do not want the screws to go through the 1/2" board. That being said you would set your jig for 1 1/2" material thickness. if your 1 1/2 board is going to be the one being screw to the 1/2". The bit depth you would set it the same. I learned that it is to the flat part of the cutting edge and not the point. So you would set your depth measuring where the lines are on the jig to the flat part of the bit. (Hope this makes sense.) For what screws you would use? The Kreg Jig system is really great in that when you purchase a box of screws it has a chart on it to show the material thickness and what screws they recommend. For a 1 1/2" material I believe the recommended Kreg screw would be a 2" or 2 1/2". I would probably try a 2 inch first and see how it goes from there.

Hope this is of help.

Nicholas
