<p>Regarding larger work surface, I use a pool table covered with two 3/4" pieces of plywood. The top piece having a melamine surface. So my work surface is 4'x8'. Sometimes that is not even big enough. (pool table was left here by one of my son's......."and I don't throw nuthin' out" </p>

When I made the channels I made them a little wider than normal for wood movement. I also used some left over 1/2" plywood for the bottom of my drawers in my workbench.</p>
