I'm a master electrician,however it would be to long to write everthing down to explaine what you have to do.I might,If I have the time,which is hard with my new born who is two weeks old.I can draw it out for you and explain the wiring process, you would also have steady power to the plug. Your best bet is to call an electrician and have him/her assess the situation. I do know the new building code requires a GFCI outlet in kitchens and bathrooms. I'm in the process of remodeling my bath, and just had GFCI outlets installed to bring it up to code, along with having new wiring too.
