I have been slowly working on my patio table plans when time and money have permitted. I really wanted a patio table for my deck that would at least seat six people. I originally looked to purchase something from a big box store but slowly started acquiring pieces of corian that were discarded at work. So I thought I would work up a corian top for a patio table. So that is what I have so far… it is glued to some pressure treated plywood to give me something to screw to and add extra support.

How the precision bench top router table would help me with the project is I plan on using cedar to hold the table up. What I would really like to do to the four legs is take a four by four and dado out the middle of the four by four about ¾ of an inch deep then take an 1/8 inch round over and round over the interior of the dado’s to make the legs feel lighter. I plan on routing the four corners of each leg either with a chamfer or ½ inch round over bit, to again lighten the leg from a big chunky cedar block. All of that would be a lot easier and more accurately done on a router table.

I was planning also to incorporate some kind of stringers and corbels to tie the legs all together. I would definitely be using a round over on those pieces to insure safety and comfort for my family. I Intend to use my Kreg jig to secure the top to the base. I have not thought through though if it would be better long term (being outside) to do a mortise and tenon joint with the legs and stringers or to kreg jig them.

I have used at work several routing tables and know they make mortis and tenon work really easy. Personally, I have really wanted the Precision Benchtop Router table ever since I first saw it at my Lowes, but now Lowes does not carry it.
