Picked up a new saw today.  Can't wait to see it in action.  I was planning to get a 12" sliding saw but couldn't justify the price.  I was able to get this saw [used] for 1/2 the price.  I've found many good reviews for this model and some have chosen it over the larger models available.  I'm sure it will be up to par for my DIY / weekend-warrior projects.  We'll see how it goes.

Good choice Brian...or at least the same choice I made!   LOL

I would have loved to get Bosch 12" Glide Miter Saw but couldn't justify the $930 retail price.  So I got the Makita at Home Depot for less than $500 and it has worked out beautifully.

The attached photos show the first project I used it on, a remodel of a bedroom into a library with crown molding.

Hope you get a lot of good use and successful projects out of yours.

Jig settings for 2 ¾ x 1 ½ boards with 30 degree miters?

I making a hex ring out of 2x4s ripped to 2 ¾ inches wide with 30 degree miters.  What setting on the Jig should I used? 1 ½ is too much.  Thanks.Continue
