Looking for some advice on constuction of a swing out leg >>>>>>>>>>>>

Hello To My Woodworking Coheart's

I have just recently constructed a Cornhole and Washer Combination package for family picnics and of the likes. Pictures of this project will be posted as soon as I get through this dilemma I am encountering . Everything went smooth using my Kreg Jig . However I am at the part where you have to make the swing out legs for the proper pitch angle for the bean bags. The plan is calling for a 11 3/4 leg with a 65 degree angle. One end is rounded off at the top for easy movement for storage and setup and the other end which sits on the ground is angled . Sounds easy enough however I need to have 11 3/4 from the boards ground edge sharpest point to the center of the rounded end just above the pivot point hole at the top . How do I make this leg and measurement work out ? Do I have to make the piece of the wood bigger to have this leg work out ?

Michael,

I have built many sets of cornhole boards. I now have a pattern that I use for my legs, simply because I build so many. The first set of legs I did with trial and error. First question; have you bored your holes in the side frame yet? If not, I bored my holes 3 1/2 " back from the front of the board. This is assuming that you used 2x4 to build the frame with. If you used 1x4 then I would drill my holes 2 3/4" back from the front of the board. You can then cut your tops as they should be, leaving the legs long. Bolt the legs to the frames. With a tape measure, measure from the top of the board to the front of the leg to get your desired height. Cut it off square. Put the board on level ground. Measure the gap from the front of the leg to the ground and cut that distance from "0" at the front of the leg to the measurement you just took on the front of the leg transferred to the back of the leg to get the proper angle on your legs so they sit flat. I hope this helps and gets you going in the right direction. The main thing is to just take your time. I just recently purchased my Kreg Master Jig so these are built using screws and plugs. Also the tops of the legs, I don't cut radius. I just cut them at 2 45's.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
