Hi. I am making a patio bench and have completed the sides and working on attaching the seat. I put in the pocket holes and when I added the screws it actually attached to the sides of the bench. The issue I see is that the side pieces are 1*4's and I was looking to attach to the 2*4 that are the bulk of the sides. I am a beginner and this is my first project. I am looking for a way to attach the seat and you would think this would be easy but I would need to drill at an angle. I am hoping pictures will help explain what I am up against.
The first picture is what its supposed to look like. so the seat sits on the 2*4 and the actual sides that are visible are the 1*4.
The second picture is the diagram that came from the book I am using to create this bench.
Thank you for any help you can give.

you can drill from the underside of the seat boards to the seat supports,or go from outside of the seat support into the seat, then put the slats on to cover the screws.
I was thinking to attach the middle 2x4 to the 2x6 seat boards prior to putting the middle board into the frame. It sounds like that middle board is already attached though.
There is nothing wrong with drilling at an angle. I would drill and insert the screws from the underside up. At an approximately 70 degree angle, a 3" screw should not protrude even if the heads are slightly countersunk, though I'd use 2.5".

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing. How effective is it? It's adaptable to any router table. Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
