Kreg Owners' Community

I have ercently purchased a Kreg router table matched with a Triton router and "I can't get enough of it, great peice of gear; however, (there is always a but) my only complaint is the dust collection aspect of the table.

The collection point on the fence is offset from the router bit and I have jury rigged a triton dust collection bucket both above and below the table powered by a large capacity shop vac. Sadly this does not appear to be working as the smaller diameter hose of the triton system does not appear to be coping with the amount of waste produced, particularly with the raised panel bit. A  lot of waste blows out under the fence and also onto the work area in front of the router which collects under the workpiece.

Does anybody out there have a solution to this problem and a supplier in the Melbourne area, I have tried Carbatec but they either have the large diameter hose or the Triton bucket system. The current outlet on the fence probably needs to be replaced with a shoe that will collect from the existing port as well as directly behind the router. I am open to suggestions but don't be rude.

Cheers

I have been eying up the Kreg table also. For dust/chip collection Rockler has the dust bucket (34203) $79.99 with the router table dual port (20225) $14.99 and router table dust hose (34203) $9.99 to hook up to a 4" dust collector. I think using a DC would be a lot better than a shop vac. Take a look at their website www.rockler.com for these items and maybe you could build your own version.

Thank you Mike, I did use a DC and reduced from 100mm t0 63mm which gave me greater velocity at the table, I also made up a wider shoe to catch the dust coming out from under the fence. The router is connected to a triton dust bucket which works well from a small shop vac. This setup now needs to be connected to a single switch to allow all three items to come on at once and I now have a dust free work area. Nothing like necessity being the mother of invention.
