Kreg Owners' Community

In some of these posts I've seen pages from some documentation that looks quite useful.

My question is: Where is this documentation to be found?

Examples of what I'm talking about are:

I don't want a link to the basic Quick-Start Guides. I've got that and, while they are good to get started with, they don't cover much in-depth info like the pages I referenced above. I've also got the SkillBuilder DVD but that doesn't give me anything to print and stick in the drawer in the shop where I need it.

Hi Phil,

I recently bought the K4 kit and all it now comes with is a Quick-Start Guide and a SkillBuilder DVD. The Quick-Start Guide (http://www.kregtool.com/information_center/manuals/Kreg_Jig_Quick_S...) is only 7 pages of basic info about the parts in the kit and a little about how to use the jig, but no details about how to do fancier joints. Certainly nothing like the pages I saw in the posts I referenced. It looks like the manual that comes with the kits now has been dumbed-down a great deal. Why, I don't know.

What would be great is if the SkillBuilder DVD included some PDF files of the older manual information, but it doesn't.

JD kindly sent me a PDF he had of an older manual. Thanks JD.

Subsequently I've come across the following one on the Rockler site that's specifically written for the K3 system. Much better than the QuickStart Guide and definitely worth downloading.

I just purchased the "master' jig and got a the almost handy carrying case. I'm a fan of these cases, but this is the first 'Case" i have gotten that doesn't seem to hold ALL the tools that came in the pack. It could be me, maybe it's the way (ways) I have tried to put them in there. Is there a picture that would help this? Or is it that the pliers just don't fit and everything else does....

MSA
I got my K3 master kit to fit all in the case, but it was a tight squeeze. Didn't take long to decide that keeping it in the case wasn't worth the effort. I mounted it to a plywood base and now it sure doesn't fit in the case. :)

Thanks, I thinking to do the same, then I know all other little parts will fit. Is any specific size of base that works better? I looked to see if there was anything posted, but being new I still figuring out how to use this site best.

It kinda depends on how big the stuff you'll be drilling is. For large panels or face frames, you may want a larger base so you can have leveling blocks further from the jig to keep your workpiece level. For smaller items it won't need to be as big.

Here's a link to a recent post that discusses jig mounting setups. I'm sure there are others.
