J.Pree, It did turn very nice and I think Russ gave you some good advise on this project. From the description of how you planned on doing it and seeing the final result I agree it does look very nice and a joint that has enough strength in it, and resistance to any water that it should last a life time. Well done.

J. Pree said:…

Totally agree with what you told J. Pree -- we all start somewhere. I got on this board for info and advice when I was just getting started in WWing. It's only by practice and the free-sharing of ideas (and the mutual support of generous WWrs) that we all develop. I've never seen a group of people more generous with their time and expertise than WWrs -- it's very heartening in today's selfish society.

Jay Boutwell said:

Hey J. Pree. We all start somewhere and that is being what we might consider our selves as "a green horn" but by working at it we become better with each try as it is a learning experience.
Hey J. Pree. We all start somewhere and that is being what we might consider our selves as "a green horn" but by working at it we become better with each try as it is a learning experience. I was privileged over the years to have had the opportunity to train two other people the cabinet making trade and they both went on to make a career of it and open their own business. One of these guys even had trouble reading a tape measure when he started however this last year he was able to make close to $80,000. The secret is to stick to the learning, by reading everything possible, watching others when they build, try to learn something from everyone's methods, ask questions and never give up. Many who start begin and when problems arise they do not ask questions or try to figure out how to solve the problem and they just plain give up and start saying that they can't do it. Once they say the words " I can't do it" they have just been defeated. Had they stuck to the business of working and trying and did as you did, and ask questions. In the process you solved your problem and learned a few things from other's methods, such as you did from Russ Haynes who gave you a solution. You also were able to see some of my methods for cutting and turning angles in cabinet building.

What this says to me is that you will go a long ways towards being a excellent woodworker and only your own imagination is the limit as to what you can do. It also tells me that again someone else has found that there is large amount of information in the Kreg Community. It will become even better if every member would contribute something to it.

Thank you for being an active member and adding something to this community of members. Yes I am anxious to see your photos and any documentation as it will be exciting to watch your woodworking ability grow.
I'm looking forward to the fi…tag:kregjig.ning.com,2014-08-21:2900167:Comment:6459292014-08-21T19:07:29.792ZJ.
I'm looking forward to the final product for sure! I'll put some pics up when it is done…..if I like what I see. Any cameras put up in my shop would be to record the greenhorn chronicles!
