Hi,

Tom in nature coast area of FL (where manatees spend their winters). Ive been woodworking for most of my life and love to build anything out of any material. I wish I knew about this site when I bought my jig a few years ago. I could have used the help/advise a few times. I operate a nuclear power plant and have on a Navy carrier as well for a total of 11 years now. Have already had my first table saw bite me (shopsmith MK V) and luckily still have my thumb intact (split down the middle).

I just purchased the Kreg Master system and I'm very excited to start using it.  I started out wood working by using  Sears Contractors Series Scroll Saw and became very skilled with elegant and fancy fretwork clocks among other items.  I then started making simple furniture items like a very simple hutch to display my China just by using a band saw,scroll saw, and my router.  I have the standard must have tools for anyone who does woodworking with the exception of having a planer or joiner.  Will be getting those within the next year or two.  I consider myself a beginner when working from detailed plans - I still need simple ones yet.

 

I joined this forum in the hopes that I can learn many new skills and tips to help me become more proficient.  Since i just got the kreg system I need to learn and fully understand how to use it and the dvd is helpful but I really want to learn how to use the jig when making angled or rounded items.  I couldn't find much at the kreg.com site on this.

Hi All,

My name is Pete and I am in the UK just north of London.  I am a retired police officer who has recently decided to take up a new hobby.  After a lifetime of dealing with people I want to let my creative side loose and see how I get on with woodwork.  I am an experienced DIYer but I want to take my hobby to a new level by designing and making things for the home, friends and family.  I am in the process of turning my garage into a workshop and kitting it out with bench, tools and storage.  Have just ordered a kreg jig master system and i am waiting for it to arrive.  It looks the ideal tool for the type of things I want to make and I can't wait to get started.  First job will be to build my own workbench which I have designed from a number of different ideas on the web.  Look forward to picking the brains of you experts out there.

Welcome to the community Pete.  Looking forward to seeing some of your projects posted.  I am also a retired police officer, from the state of Oregon. I retired in 1993 and started a new venture into woodwork and it eventually lead to a second career as a cabinet maker and custom wood worker building everything from cabinets to furniture.  I bought my first Kreg Jig over 20 years ago and it has been one of the best tool investments that I have purchased and has served me well allowing me to make complicated jointery with ease.  I am sure you will enjoy your kreg as well.  It is great to know that you do not have to worry about how to make a joint as that kreg will fulfill your wishes. 

This new venture you are embarking on has been the best years of my life so I know you will have some exciting and rewarding times ahead as you travel through this adventure creating many fine examples of work.

Greetings,  I'm Russ from Corona, AZ (county community southeast of Tucson). I am originally from Massachusetts. I've done some small woodworking but mostly larger projects like sheds, finishing a basement, and a few projects from "This Old house".  Purchased a Kreg tool to see if I have the necessary skill to build a series (4) of bookcase cabinets to replace the put together ones I purchased years age. Since they have to pass the boses inspection I built a sample prototype (half hieght) using the bookcase plans on the Kreg web site. The ultimate goal is to get them made so that I can buy a new 60 inch TV when they go on sale around Christmas. So far so good. I have found the tool very easy to use and really makes a solid joint. Face frames were a piece of cake. I'll post a photo of my first effort.
