SORRY FOR THE CAPS MY COMPUTER IS BEING FUNKY
I AM USING THE JIG FOR THE FIRST TIME AND HAVE NEVER CREATED POCKET HOLES BEFORE  DOES THE JIG REST ON THE WOOD OR DOES THE GREY PLASTIC LENGTH GUIDES ON THE SIDES OF THE JIG REST IN FRONT OF THE EDGE OF THE WOOD

THE REASON FOR THE QUESTION IS I AM USING THREE QUARTER INCH PINE WOOD AND WHEN SETTING THE DRILL BIT AND JIG AT THREE QUARTER INCHES THE DRILL DID NOT CREAT A POCKET AND THE ONE INCH SCREWS HEAD WAS ABOVE THE FACE OF THE PINE WOOD    I THOUGHT THAT THERE SHOULD BE A POCKET THAT HIDES THE SCREW

AGAIN SORRY FOR THE CAPS
SINCERELY
RICK

Thanks Aaron,
I had seen this picture and this led me to believe what you are confirming. Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
Rick

The grey guides should be on the edge of the wood like this,

"To get the right Pocket-Hole depth, you’ll have to adjust the position of the collar on the drill bit. Place your bit inside the Depth Setting Gauge on the Kreg Jig®, with the step of the bit at the marking which matches your workpiece thickness, as shown. Slide the Depth Collar towards the jig base and lock it in place with the included Allen Wrench." I got this off the kreg website, hope it helps you out.
Richard you should also be using 1 1/4" screws for 3/4" material.
Hey Robert are you sure about the 1 1/4" screw.

Yes, if you are joining 3/4" material, you should be joining 1 1/4" screws. You should have gotten a booklet with your Kreg Jr. that tells you the correct screw sizes, if you didn't, there is a link on the right side of the home page under Kreg Jig that says "Find the Correct Screw", this chart gives the correct screw sizes ro use for different thicknesses of wood.

From another first time user. I joined two 3/4 thick pieces with my clamp in an L shape and tried 4 times to get a pocket and the 1 1/4"screws came through the edge of the wood. I finally used the pocket hole jig without joining the 2 pieces only on one piece and it worked! Live and learn I guess.
